Janet Wilmoth
Janet Wilmoth grew up in a family of firefighters in a Chicago suburb. She worked for Fire Chief magazine for 27 years and served in several capacities from Associate Editor to International Correspondent and Editorial Director until the magazine closed in 2013. Janet spearheaded the “Buckleup” seatbelt campaign and Everyone Goes Home® wraps for seatbelts. She participated in the first Tampa symposium in 2004 of the NFFF’s Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives and received the NFFF’s Everyone Goes Home® Seal of Excellence Award. In 2010, Wilmoth was presented with the International Association of Fire Chiefs’ Presidential Award by Chief Jeff Johnson. Since 2014, Janet is Special Project Director for Firehouse/Endeavor and coordinates the Firehouse Station Design Conferences, the Station Design Awards, and the Emergency Vehicle Technician of the Year Awards.
Janet and her husband live in Lisle, Ill., and have two adult daughters. The Wilmoths enjoy traveling to their place in Door County, Wisconsin with their two standard poodles.
